Lea Seelenmeyer, the face of our Summer ’26 campaign, is a mother of two, model, and Creative Director of NOWE Studios. Born in Berlin and currently based in Lisbon, she grew up closely connected to the theater world. Lea began modeling at 16, driven by curiosity and a love of travel, before stepping back to focus on her young family after the birth of her first child. Today, she approaches modeling with renewed intention while building NOWE Studios alongside her husband. 

We spoke to Lea about the inspiration for NOWE, juggling multiple roles and responsibilities, and how her creative life has shifted over time.

QUESTION 01

TELL US MORE ABOUT NOWE. WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION?

NOWE is an artist-led platform, rooted in the desire to create space for more intentional ways of making, experiencing & selling art. NOWE Studios hosts residencies, exhibitions, events and collaborative projects, offering artists the time and space to develop new work within a supportive and engaged environment. Alongside this, NOWE is expanding as an international platform, connecting artists and curators and presenting their work within a carefully curated world of like-minded voices. We will be elevating their practices while offering new, thoughtful tools to support and share their work in new, never before seen ways.

“NOWE began with my husband; he’s been building the platform for years. We built the studio ourselves, from the ground up, as a first physical expression of and introduction to what NOWE would become.”

QUESTION 02

HOW DO YOU APPROACH YOUR ROLE AS CREATIVE DIRECTOR

It always begins with tuning into what wants to be expressed. I’m interested in creating work that carries an emotional truth. From there, my role is to shape that feeling into form. I think the most beautiful work happens when everyone feels seen, safe and inspired. I see my role as bringing together different elements and shaping them into something that feels honest, considered, and alive.

“Artistically, I’m drawn to forms that carry emotion through the body, things like theatre, dance, photography, painting and film. I’m often more inspired by a feeling or a gesture than by something literal. A scene, a movement or even a colour can stay with me and evolve into something else over time.”

QUESTION 03

HOW DO YOU JUGGLE YOUR MULTIPLE ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES?

Honestly, some days I don’t know that I do. It’s busy, always. What’s made the biggest difference is asking for help and having the right people around me. I’m lucky to have a management that understands my priorities, which allows me to be present with my children while growing in my profession. It’s a constant balancing act, but one I’m learning to move with rather than control.

“Motherhood changes your rhythm, but it also deepens you. I think it’s about learning to work with that shift, rather than against it. And I’ve learned to ask for support, to recognise that you don’t have to hold everything alone.”

QUESTION 04

How has your creativity shifted and grown through the various stages of your life? 

Growing up I was very much into writing and dancing. It then shifted to wanting to be on stage, acting and modeling, to now having a great interest in the bigger creative process while still letting the child in me be in front of the camera and play. That balance feels honest to who I am at this point in my life. Motherhood changed everything. For a while, my creative voice went quiet. I was fully immersed in my children and that felt right. I only really reconnected with that part of myself about a year ago. It felt like finding something very essential again.

“My children are a deep source of inspiration, they remind me to stay connected to curiosity and openness. It brings me back to what feels real, rather than what is expected. I’m also constantly inspired by the people I meet, especially other creatives.”
