In the Mood for Summer

NAGHEDI JOURNAL
Issue 3

Sara dreams of Mediterranean holidays while composing her mood board for Summer '24, her vision for the season guided by the timeless stripes of Italian beach parasols and French Breton shirts, vintage references, and nautical trimmings. The result is a collection defined by wanderlust and the nostalgia of carefree summers by the sea.

Q: What was the inspiration behind Summer ‘24?
I was so inspired by photographs of the French Riviera and Amalfi Coast in the 1950s & 60s, and particularly the brightly colored umbrellas often found on European beaches. My phone was full of screenshots of striped umbrellas!
Q: Which design element stands out the most for you, without giving too much away?
It’s all about the Stripe. We’ve never done a striped weave before, so I knew we had to give it a try. Once we received the first sample, we took off with it. We decided to really embrace the spirit of the European summer lifestyle, combining the stripe with our basket-inspired fringe.

“This collection feels nostalgic, laid-back, and a little escapist. It elicits that quintessential summer feeling.”
Q: With so many options, how did you choose a color story for this season?
I leaned into classic summer basics, with nautical touches in the details. It’s a fresh update on a primary color palette, referencing the reds, blues, and yellows frequently featured in vintage photos and travel posters for coastal locales. NAGHEDI started out as a beach bag–I love going back to our roots for summer.
Q: How will you style Summer ‘24?
I can see the whole wardrobe around this collection. I’ll wear it with light colors and linens so the bold colors and patterns can take center stage. Summer is my favorite season, and I gravitate towards easy dressing, preferring timeless pieces that are casual, yet elevated.
Polished brights, beachy details, and airy neutrals strike a balance between classic and avant-garde—perfect for long, lazy days under the sun.
